VISION

  Our Vision is to pay attention to the safety and security of its members and facilitates a secured environment that is free of Sexual harassment. It ensures that both the gender can work together with a sense of personal security and dignity.

MISSION

  Our mission is to provide secured or harassment free campus and to organize gender Sensitization programs like conference /Workshops/seminars regularly. It also makes arrangement for appropriate psychological, emotional and physical support (in form of counseling, Security and other assistance) to the Victim if so desires.

ROLE OF THE COMMITTEE

  1. To prevent, prohibhit the harassment of students and women employees in the campus.
  2. To ensure girls that the Institution provides well secured campus, free of gender based discrimination.
  3. To ensure harmless situation by undertaking form from the students at the time of orientation programme.
  4. To provide supportive services for the members who face sexual harassment.
  5. To resolve the complainants by means of resolution as specified by the legislation.
  6. To Guide and counsel the women if any issue/ case arises.
  7. To ensure that students, faculty and staff are provided with current and comprehensive materials on sexual harassment .
  8. To promote awareness about sexual harassment through educational initiatives that encourages and fosters a respectful and safe campus environment .
  9. The committee members would decide whether action must be implemented based on the truth findings.
  10. The committee shall conclude whether the complaint make out a case of “sexual harassment” or not.
  11. The committee would recommend the action/ punishment to be taken against any person if found guilty.
  12. To terminate the accused from their duties/ job/ course.
  13. The committee shall monitor the follow-up action to be taken by the organization on receipt of the report of committee.

The Act defines sexual harassment as:

a) Physical contact and advances

b) Demand or request for sexual favours

c) Making sexually coloured remarks

d) Showing pornography

e) Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature.

  Every employer of a workplace shall, by an order in writing, constitute a Committee to be known as the Internal Complaints Committee: Provided that where the offices or administrative units of the workplace are located at different places or divisional or sub- divisional level, the Internal Committee shall be constituted at all administrative units or offices.

  The Internal Committee shall consist of the following members to be nominated by the employer, namely.

  1. A Presiding Officer who shall be a woman employed at a senior level at workplace from amongst the employees: Provided that in case a senior level woman employee is not available, the Presiding Officer shall be nominated from other offices or administrative units of the workplace referred to in the sub section(1): Provided further that in case the other offices or administrative units of the work place do not have a senior level woman employee, the Presiding Officer shall be nominated from any other workplace of the same employer or other department or organization;
  2. Not less than two members from amongst employees preferably committed to the cause of women or who have had experience in social work or have legal knowledge;
  3. One member from amongst Non - Governmental Organisations or associations committed to the cause of women or a person familiar with the issues relating to sexual harassment: Provided that atleast one- half of the total members so nominated shall be women.

CHILD MARRIAGE AWARENESS

Chief Guest : Dr. S. Gnanasekar, Inspector of Police, NSD Wing, Krsihangiri.

  Title of the Programme : “Child Marriage Awareness”. He said that the students must not use cell phones. Child marriages are harmful to both mother as well infant. Also leads to Nutrient deficiency & death. He stated that according to child marriage act two years imprisonment is penalized for the one who arranges child marriage.


CRIME AGAINST WOMEN

Chief Guest: Mrs. M. Sumithra, Inspector of police, All women Police station, Krishnagiri.

  Title of the programme: “Crime Against Women”. She shared the disadvantages of early marriage, eloping, illegal contacts with the incidents. She also spoke on the ways to combat it & not to give heed to strangers. She shared the emergency numbers to be dialed at the time of danger/threat. She stated that cell phones must be used for necessity & not for granted.
